This video shows the moment shocked railway passengers rescue a child after it fell in the gap between the train and the platform when exiting the car.
The frightened boy reportedly found himself on the tracks after stepping out of the train at Kunming South railway station, in China’s south-western Yunnan Province on 11th December.
Smartphone footage recorded by terrified passengers, shows the boy’s parents and station security staff reaching down under the train car to pick him up as the child raises his arms.
After finally setting foot on the platform, the boy’s parents hugged him tightly as the crowd slowly cleared off.
Chinese media said that the boy was not injured and left the station with his parents following the incident.
But, users on Douyin, TikTok’s Chinese version, critised the parents for not taking proper care of the boy after recordings emerged on the platform the same day.

Douyin user ‘agave’ said: “There are safety lines, and the staff shouts at the top of their lungs and many passengers just ignore them.
“When something goes wrong, they blame the staff and the unreasonable design, but they don’t blame themselves.”
User ‘Moling Oh’ commented: “Within the security line, at the train station. Someone always shouts at the top of their lungs. But there are always people who think they are too smart.”
And ‘Niu Colu·Xiaoqi’ added: “Such parents who have no sense of responsibility at all and cause trouble to others. Should be blacklisted and not allowed to use public transportation in the future.”
