This spectacular footage shows a large cargo ship that entered shallow waters and got stranded on a trestle.
The ship ‘Changneng 6588’ was filmed shortly after it ran aground on the Longzhaoyan trestle in the Yangtze River, in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province in the early hours of 31st August.
The ship was not carrying any cargo when it reached an extremely shallow part of the river and became stuck.
Hours later, the Maritime Search and Rescue Centre dispatched patrol vessels for an emergency salvage operation.
The operation also included the efforts of engineering vessels, high-power tugs, and pollution control vessels.
At 02:50am on 1st September, the ‘Changneng 6588’ successfully refloated by utilising the rising tide in a safe manner.
After refloating with the tide, the ship navigated to a safe water area.
No casualties or injuries were reported.
There were no signs of water pollution, the Maritime Search and Rescue Centre.
The footage attracted widespread attention on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, where many netizens took the opportunity to poke fun at the situation.
