Three people have been injured in this shocking footage that shows them being thrown into the air when an elevator suddenly plunged to the floor at a building in China.
The footage shows how the lift appears to have become stuck shortly before plunging to the ground at a building in the city of Changsha in China’s Hunan Province on Saturday, 26th August.
One of the people on board, identified only by his surname Li, who lives on the 25th floor said: “As the video shows we were thrown into the area and we hit the roof, before then smacking into the ground.”
He said that the elevator had been going down when it malfunctioned, and then it suddenly plunged to the ground as they had pressed the buttons to try and get it to restart.
The doors were later prised open by emergency workers and the injured trio were removed for treatment at the scene being taken away by ambulance.
Local officials confirmed they were looking into what caused the elevator to malfunction with the three people inside, all of whom survived.
