A woman captured the shocking moment she and a small crowd felt the powerful wrath of a lightning bolt as it struck the ground a few feet away from them.

The unnamed woman filmed the near disaster by chance while closing her street stall during a sudden storm in Dongguan, in south-eastern China’s Guangdong Province on 15th July.

As she began preparing to call it a day, fierce winds and heavy rainfall engulfed the area, forcing her and other bystanders to wait it out and seek shelter.

Wanting to record the intense storm, she took out her phone and managed to capture the split-second lightning strike on video.

The lightning bolt came without warning and struck the ground merely 10 feet away from the group of strangers.

The terrifying flash was accompanied by an almost deafening clap of thunder, followed by the sound of the shocked people screaming.

Despite the unbelievably close strike of lightning, the group made it away without any injuries.
