Moviegoers in India who went to watch a top-rated sequel of a blockbuster film found themselves in a terrifying situation after a group of hardcore fans let off fireworks inside the cinema.

The visitors turned up to watch Indian actor Salman Khan’s newest movie ‘Tiger 3′, a sequel to the action-thriller Tiger Zinda Hai’, on the evening of the Hindu festival of lights, Diwali, on 12th November.

But they soon ended up running for their lives after a group of fans set off fireworks in the cinema during the screening in the city of Malegaon in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

A number of videos showing the incident, in which a bunch of fans let off the fireworks to celebrate the holiday, quickly spread on social media platforms.

The clips further show a number of fans running out of the cinema hall, hoping to save themselves before getting injured.

It is not the first time such an incident has happened during a film featuring 57-year-old Indian acting icon Khan, according to local media.

A similar incident happened at the release of Khan’s Antim: The Final Truth’ hit in 2021.

At the time, he condemned the act on social media, and urged fans not to repeat it, saying: “I request all my fans not to take firecrackers inside the auditorium as it could prove to be a huge fire hazard thereby endangering your lives and also others.

“My request to theatre owners is not to allow firecrackers to be taken inside the cinema and security should stop them from doing so at entry point.

“Enjoy the film by all means but please please avoid this is my request to all my fans, thank you.”
