This is the shocking moment a car driver makes a sharp left turn in the middle of traffic and mows down a motorcyclist.

Dash-cam footage from another motorist shows the final moments of the accident on a road in Nanjing, in China’s eastern Jiangsu Province, on 20th November.

In the video, a red Volkswagen is seen driving normally in one of the middle lanes.

Then, as the driver gave a right-turn signal, he bizarrely made a sharp turn to the left, cutting off a motorcyclist who was travelling in the adjacent lane and knocking him down.

The footage then cuts to another scene showing the young driver stepping out of the red car with a corgi in the front seat.

He could be seen typing on his phone, then opening the car boot, apparently searching for a first aid kit as the rider he hit laid on the asphalt, seemingly unable to move.

Witnesses later told local media the rider got injured in the collision, although his current condition is unclear.

Meanwhile, police detained the driver who hit him.

It is unclear if he struck the rider on purpose or had little driving experience and did not notice the motorcycle in the back.

Police are currently investigating the matter.
