This is the heart-stopping moment two people jump out of a burning vehicle desperate to save themselves following a car crash.

Phone footage captured by an unnamed witness shows flames engulfing the small van that has rolled to the side and caught fire at an intersection in Zhengzhou, in central China’s Henan Province.

The van reportedly overturned and went up in an explosion after it crashed into the white SUV seen nearby.

Thick plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the burning vehicle when suddenly its two passengers – a man dressed in a white shirt and a woman wearing a long skirt – jump out onto the street.

The man quickly ran away while the woman stayed back to collect some items that have fallen on the ground before following along.

Incredibly, their clothing appears to have remained intact and two appear unharmed.

The two hurried towards the white SUV as their vehicle got devoured by the blaze.

The SUV that they hit also suffered extensive damages to its front, local media said.

The identities of the people involved in the accident have not been revealed but no injuries have been reported.

The footage attracted widespread attention on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, with many netizens apparently left stunned that the two people managed to safely get out of the fire.

One user titled ‘Smile and pass 928’ commented: “Is anyone hurt? Hope the driver is safe.”

Another user titled ‘plum wood’ wrote: “What were those people standing on the side thinking? Even when the car was on fire, they were still watching. It could explode, you know.”
