Numerous residents were baffled and believed aliens have come to Earth when a giant, black circle suddenly appeared above their heads in the middle of the day.
The unknown object was spotted hovering above the city of Dalian, in north-eastern China’s Liaoning Province.
Phone footage filmed by an unnamed woman shows the dark ring rotating at a low altitude just a few dozen feet above the ground.
Numerous people can be heard shouting in surprise as the circle is seen moving through the air.
Many netizens believed a UFO was at work after the video was shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok.
One user titled ‘DongtuTechnology’ said in a comment: “Definitely a UFO at first glance. The actual body is cloaked, but it seems like the engine is burning some oil.”
But a local amusement park cleared up the confusion, claiming a performance of theirs was the source of the mysterious shape.
The Discovery Kingdom park claimed it came from one of their shows that involve large-scale fire-breathing performances which in turn release large smoke rings in the sky.
Other users then took the opportunity to ridicule the confusion, with one user titled ‘Ray, Bea’ commenting: “I have always believed that there are SUVs, USBs, and VCDs in this world.”
And another, titled ‘125428838’, wrote: “If I’m not wrong, this should be KFC.”
