This dramatic footage shows firefighters attempting to extinguish a burning GBP 200,000 Porsche that had caught fire in the middle of the street.

The silver vehicle was filmed as it burned in the middle of an intersection in Chongqing, in south-western China, at around 9:00am on 24th September.

Several pieces of footage shows the lux sedan, reportedly an electric Porsche Taycan, being quickly devoured by the blaze that appears to be spreading to the rear wheels.

Firefighters are seen dousing the burning car with fire extinguisher while other road participants are forced to stand nearby and wait for the danger to be over.

Witnesses at the scene said they were running errands nearby when they suddenly heard a loud noise, followed by thick smoke billowing from the street.

They ran over and saw the silver Porsche burning intensely.

Firefighters reportedly managed to put of the fire in 20 minutes.

Fortunately, there were no casualties.

A preliminary investigation revealed the fire was caused by a short circuit in the vehicle’s engine.

It generated sparks which started a fire that quickly spread and then caused an explosion.

Porsche’s official customer service stated that they will verify the situation as the car was said to have suffered extensive damages.

The incident remains under further investigation.
