This is the moment residents of a town that was battered by a severe storm take relaxing footbaths in flooded streets after nearby hot springs mixed with rainwater poured out onto the roads.

Bizarre footage shows dozens of people sitting on the curb by the flooded roads in Zhengzhou, in China’s central Henan Province, on 25th November.

Both men and women and even children could be seen with their trousers rolled up, soaking their feet in little buckets.

Stunned witnesses said the water that pooled in the streets actually came from nearby hot springs and was as warm as 40 degrees Celsius.

In the video, steam can be seen rising from the inundated road.

Others also used the opportunity to save up on electricity and did their laundry in the hot floodwaters.

Witness Ms Zhou said the hot springs were only discovered recently when construction workers drilled the ground near the city.

The footage attracted widespread attention on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, where many netizens praised the locals’ luck amidst an unfortunate event.

One user titled ‘A Army-7681’ commented: “Where is this? I also want to take a bath.”
