A man sitting on a massage chair at Guangzhou South Railway Station who suddenly found himself starting to itch was shocked to find bugs crawling out of the chair’s upholstery.

A video posted by a netizen – not named- showed the man itching and standing up to inspect the chair, revealing multiple bugs crawling out of the seams.

In response to the incident, Guangzhou South Railway Station issued a statement on its official Weibo account on June 12th.

The station stated that they took the issue seriously and immediately instructed relevant units to disinfect and kill insects on all massage chairs throughout the station.

All massage chairs have now been disinfected, and the station will strengthen management to ensure that the chairs remain clean and comfortable to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

The incident caused inconvenience to passengers and the station apologized for the unpleasant experience.

The footage was posted on Douyin, The Chinese version of TikTok, and the video received more than 76,000 comments.

A user ‘Xiaoyu’ commented: “I fell asleep on the massage chair and was bitten two days ago.”

While ‘Pay back’ commented: “I don’t dare to sit on this kind of chair outside.”

And ‘Super’ commented: “That is disgusting.”
