This is the barking mad moment when a scooter rider is knocked cold by a giant tree trunk apparently dropping out of the sky.
The terrifying footage – recorded on CCTV footage in Liuzhou, Guangxi region, south-eastern China – starts with the biker passing through a residential street.
But suddenly an entire tree trunk with the roots still covered in earth comes flying down from above.
As the biker passes underneath the trunk catches him full in the face, knocking him backwards off of his white scooter onto the road.
Another clip – recorded on 21st May and later shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok – goes on to show paramedics rushing to help the motionless rider.
It is understood he is recovering in hospital.
Locals later claimed the tree had been thrown off an apartment block from a resident’s balcony.
Some local media reports say police later arrested a suspect.
The rider – it is reported – is 18 years old and still at high school.
Police are investigating the accident.
The footage attracted widespread attention on social media.
Douyin user ‘tread snow’ said in a comment: “This guy has very bad luck.”
Another user titled ‘light’ commented: “Whoever threw this should be punished severely.”
And user ‘peaceful’ wrote: “I just want to know if the boy is now safe.”
