Netizens have been dazzled by footage showing a luminous object in the night sky, prompting online rumours that the city was being visited by beings from outer space.
Footage of the occurrence that happened on the 10th of June was captured by netizens in the city of Chengdu, in Sichuan Province, China, and later shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok.
The footage then quickly went viral and sparked discussions among netizens.
According to eyewitnesses, a bright object resembling a break in the sky suddenly appeared in the air above Chengdu.
Although the object’s height could not be determined from the ground, it was clearly visible. The incident has caused widespread speculation online about the true identity of the mysterious flying object.
Local news media reported that some netizens we convinced that it could be a spaceship proving the existence of extraterrestrial life, which sparked people’s curiosity and imagination about the existence of alien life.
However, others remain sceptical and suggest that it could be a natural phenomenon or a man-made object that requires further investigation and analysis by experts.
There has been no official comment on the phenomena by local authorities.
