This is the dramatic moment a motorist saw his life flashing before his eyes when a massive truck toppled over onto his lane.
The video has gone viral on the back of a heated debate over whether the motorist, who appears to have a child in the car, should have smashed into the back of the truck, or risked going down the side and being crushed.
The video – with over 1.5 million views on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok – was shot in Xi’an City which is in China’s Shaanxi Province, when the motorist was approaching at speed towards a huge red lorry on a busy expressway.
But the driver of the lorry appears not to have noticed that there is a height limit, and it comes to an immediate stop after smashing at speed into the bridge.
The force of the collision also sends the lorry topping over onto its side, causing the driver and what appears to be possibly a child to scream in fright, before they realise that the lorry has become wedged and they managed to pass successfully by without being crushed.
Debris, however, from the bridge crash does drop onto the car, and it appears as if the driver also hits the side wall as he tries to avoid a collision.
In the end, the motorist’s decision to go down the side of the vehicle was the right one, thanks to the fact that the truck got wedged.
However, online commentators pointed out that the man was lucky, with ‘Day Of Thunder’ saying: “It would be best to slam on the brakes and hit the vehicle, because if it had not been wedged in the roof that would have been instant death.”
