A creative groom who works in construction used 18 excavators that he parked along the street with their claws raised up in the air to form one long wedding arch.
Phone footage shows the machines arranged in pairs, with each one placed every few feet from the village entrance, all the way to the groom’s doorstep in Kaifeng, in central China’s Henan Province.
The groom, named Zhang Di, has been working as an excavator operator for nearly eight years. He had long planned the idea of using excavators to create the arch.
The day before the wedding, he and his friends used a trailer to transport the excavators to his doorstep and set them up.
On 2nd October, a live band accompanied the newlyweds, with guests following closely behind in cars decorated with red ribbons as they drove underneath the arch.
A friend of the groom, surnamed Zhou, said the groom finally shared his unique idea with their group of friends several days before the wedding.
A few of them owned excavators themselves and personally delivered them to Zhang on Sunday (Oct 1) to help make his dream wedding come true.
The rest of the machines were brought by the groom himself using a trailer. After setting up the arches, they hung banners with best wishes on them.
Zhang, who works as an excavator operator, told local media he loves his job and wanted to incorporate the element of excavators into his wedding.
He added that his future wife, who was not named, did not know of his idea and he surprised her with it on the day they got married.
She and her family were reportedly very happy to witness the creative setup.
He added that he and his friends made sure it was safe to pass by the machinery by checking all the excavators were turned off and installing safety locks on the crane arms.
