This is the horrific moment a dad stabs to death his teenage daughter over 25 times with a knife after she bravely tried to protect her mother during a domestic dispute.
The gruesome incident took place in the Kadodara neighbourhood of Surat, a city in the western Indian state of Gujarat, with the CCTV images reportedly going viral on social media after being shared online.
The hard-to-watch footage shows the daughter being repeatedly stabbed and slashed at by her father after she tried to protect her mother during a domestic argument.
The dad, named only as Ramanuja, can be seen plunging the blade up and down as his daughter tries to defend herself before she collapses on the ground, with him continuing to attack her as other family members flee for their lives.
The daughter, who has not been named, can be seen desperately trying to shield herself while lying on the floor as the dad plunges the blade into her again and again.
A woman, reportedly his wife, can be seen coming down some stairs, with Ramanuja then turning his attention to her and pursuing her as she flees back upstairs.
A teenage boy emerges from a nearby room and looked at the teenage girl, lying in a pool of blood on the floor.
He cautiously puts his head around the corner to see where the dad is before heading off down the corridor and out of shot.
The girl can be seen moving on the floor, seriously injured.
Ramanuja then comes back down the stairs and continues his attack on his daughter.
She can be seen desperately trying to shield herself again as he brings the blade down on her.
The girl can be seen getting on all fours in a final attempt to get away as the dad continues to attack her.
She finally rolls onto her back and makes her way into a room as the attack continues.
Her father follows her, with the attack apparently continuing behind a curtain as the footage ends.
The daughter reportedly succumbed to her wounds at the scene and the man’s wife was reportedly injured.
Ramanuja then reportedly continued to attack his wife, with other family members intervening to stop him.
A number of his children were reportedly injured, putting a stop to the attack on his wife.
Ramanuja was later arrested, according to local media. The incident reportedly took place on the night of 18th May, with the images only appearing in Indian media today, on 31st May.
Police said that the father lost his temper with his wife after a trivial argument about their daughter sleeping on the terrace.
Ramanuja has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
