This is the shocking moment a speeding school bus is smashed to pieces as it crashes into a roadside tree, injuring terrified pupils on board.
The bus had been taking children home from the Rising Star School in Wagholi, Maharashtra State, India on 4th December.
But CCTV footage of the smash shows the vehicle crashing straight into a tree at the side of the road, sending debris flying everywhere.
Its impact was so great that the bus’s windscreen was catapulted out into a motorbike and roadside sign.
Within seconds, passers-by run to help as children are heard wailing in pain and fear from the inside.
The bus door appears to have been torn off by one of the tree’s substantial branches.
As people try to start evacuating the children, the footage ends.
Local media reports say several students were injured in the collision and are receiving treatment at a private hospital.
After the crash, the pupils’ parents filed a report at Lonikand police station demanding an investigation of the safety and control of the bus.
Horrified social media users praised members of the public for running to the rescue.
One, named X user ‘ASAP’ said: “Sometimes the best part about India is the number of people who run for rescue.”
The cause of the crash has not been reported yet.
A police investigation is ongoing.
