This bizarre footage of a lux BMW with its bonnet blown up like a balloon left social media users baffled, jokingly calling it the new and limited “birthday” edition.
The peculiar bulge on the black luxury sedan was filmed by an unnamed passerby in Weifang, in eastern China’s Shandong Province.
In the video – shared later on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website – the car’s bonnet appears to have expanded and swollen up more than double its size and looks as if it is about to burst.
The clip – which has been viewed over one million times – was posted by a user titled ‘Humorous Mr.’ with the caption: “This is a limited-edition birthday BMW.”
Others were quick to join in on the humorous remarks, with one user titled ‘Little people depend on food’ commenting: “It seems this car was bitten by a mosquito.”
Another user titled ‘Brother don’t drag’ jokingly asked: “Is it benign or malignant?”
And user ‘Lei Lei’ said: “It looks pretty good, except the driver won’t be able to see the road ahead.”
Its owner, whose identity was not revealed, later cleared up the confusion and said he purposely inflated the film on the bonnet because he wanted to change it.
