Police in Japan are hunting for a serial thief who has been stealing urinal grates from men’s toilets in a series of bizarre thefts.
Public outdoor loos in public parks in Sapporo, the capital of Japan’s mountainous, northern island of Hokkaido, have been plagued by the kinky crime wave for months.
Damage was confirmed in a total of 16 parks, including one park in the Kita Ward of the city and 15 parks in the Higashi Ward, among a long list of other outdoor toilets to have been vandalised.
Local media reported that baffled police have 37 cases open but without a single suspect in sight.
Each grille is worth just JPY 1,000 (GBP 5.71) brand new and would have been peed on by tens of thousands of men.
Local media believes the crook could be a pervert with a fetish for men urinating.
Police began the investigation after a contractor cleaning the toilets noticed that some of the grilles had gone missing.
No suspects had been arrested at the time of writing and the investigations are ongoing.
