This is the dramatic moment a driver escapes death when large utility poles being transported on a lorry crash through the windshield of his lux Mercedes.

The incident reportedly took place on a road in Fuqing, in southeastern China’s Fujian Province at around 8:00am on 15th August.

Video footage captured on another motorist’s dash-cam shows the black Mercedes Benz SUV making a right turn onto a city boulevard.

But as the driver tries entering the street, they halt behind a yellow lorry that is transporting several utility poles.

The Mercedes driver attempts to overtake the slow-moving lorry but it suddenly enters the left lane to avoid a parked vehicle.

As the lorry moves back into the right lane, the lux SUV’s driver then tries to speed ahead.

And as the lorry turns, so do the loosely secured poles.

But the Mercedes ends up smashing into the large concrete poles instead that pierce its front windshield and exit through the rear one.

Incredibly, no one was injured.

The footage was later shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, where netizens questioned who was to blame for the accident.

One user titled ‘Starry Sky Advertisement’ said in a comment: “The rear vehicle collided, but the front vehicle is fully at fault due to the cargo exceeding the vehicle length.

“For such long cargo, it’s essential to have a conspicuous marker at the end to catch people’s attention. Otherwise, the long structure becomes a small white dot on a straight line.”

While user ‘Romantic ING’ commented: “In this case, let the construction vehicle go first, follow slowly behind, wait for a suitable safe distance, and then overtake it.”

And user ‘SnowGaGa’ wrote: “The Mercedes should not be following so closely behind.”
