The shocking event occurred near the entrance of a high-rise building in New Taipei, Taiwan, at around 01:05pm on 20th July.

CCTV footage shows the moment the victim, surnamed Huang, had just arrived at the bus stop along with her sister, who was not named.

Just seconds later, as she stood at the side of the nearby building, a large, white air conditioner dropped down seemingly out of nowhere and struck her directly on the head.

Huang passed out on the street immediately after being hit by the 70-pound-heavy air unit.

Her sister runs over and kneels by her side attempting to wake her up.

But her efforts are seemingly of no use and her despair grows larger with each second as Huang reportedly lay there showing no signs of life.

Shocked bystanders cover their mouths and back away from the scene while her desperate sister grabs her phone to call for help.

Huang was later rushed to hospital with severe lacerations and leg fractures.

Despite doctors’ best efforts to save her, the 21-year-old finance student was declared dead.

A real estate employee who witnessed the incident said the victim was bleeding profusely from a head wound.

He said he immediately phoned emergency services and three nurses who happened to be nearby rendered aid until paramedics arrived.

Afterwards, police found the air unit fell after a 31-year-old worker, surnamed Lee, failed to properly install it on the building’s 17th floor.

Meanwhile, the site of the accident is also being investigated by the New Taipei Labor Affairs Department, while all installation work has been halted.

The worker’s employer could face a fine of up to TWD 300,000 (GBP 7,433) if the department discovers any safety regulation violations.

Huang was a student at the acclaimed National Chengchi University, local media reported.

Following her tragic death, the University expressed its condolences and said it will do its best to support and assists the girl’s family.
