This is the shocking moment when the floor of a busy supermarket collapses and drags an entire rack stocked with products down into a gaping pit in the ground.

Two customers reportedly fell inside the three-foot hole at the newly-opened store in Jiyuan, in China’s central Henan Province, and received minor injuries.

The supermarket had been open for less than 24 hours before the devastating incident on 19th November.

One piece of footage recorded by in-store surveillance cameras shows an elderly man reaching for an item on the shelf located in the middle of the store when the floor underneath suddenly crumbles to pieces.

Shocked, he backed away and other shoppers scattered in fear as a giant hole opened up in the ground.

Another piece of footage filmed in the aftermath shows the piles of broken shards and debris covering parts of the massive hole that was created.

A third clip shows one of the injured shoppers being helped outside by an employee as she limped among a worried crowd gathered at the entrance.

Currently, the scene has been sealed off, and the Housing and Construction Bureau will conduct further investigations into the cause of the incident.
