This is the terrifying moment when panicked shoppers run for their lives as the ceiling of huge mall suddenly collapses in a massive rainstorm.
Phone video footage of the collapse at the Megah Rise Mall, in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, shows security guards desperately trying to get customers to safety.
As they started to run, a massive section of the ground floor ceiling caved in and fell to the floor as shoppers screamed in terror.
And as the whole ceiling dropped to the floor, one woman could be heard in the background shrieking: “Oh my God!”
Local media reports that three people were injured in the collapse on 28th October.
The Megah Rise Mall said in a statement: “We regret to inform you that the ceiling of the car porch in front of Megah Rise Mall entrance collapsed during strong winds and heavy downpours this afternoon at approximately 3 pm, resulting in three minor injuries.
“We are currently investigating the cause of the incident and are taking immediate action to manage and address the situation.
“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our community.”
The mall’s management said it will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
They said the rest of the mall will remain open while the collapsed area has been cordoned off.
A Halloween set to take place hours after the incident was cancelled.
