An imam in Malaysia has died in a bizarre accident after he was hit on the head by a falling coconut.

Aisa Ujang, 66, was leader of the Felda Raja Alias 2 mosque in the district of Jempol, Negeri Sembilan state, Malaysia, before his sudden death on Thursday, 19th October.

The imam was reportedly struck on the head by a falling coconut at around 8.30am while at the back of his house where he had reportedly planted some coconut trees.

Jempol District Police Chief Superintendent Hoo Chang Hook said: “The coconuts will be collected every two weeks and sold to traders.”

Ujang was immediately brought to the Jempol Hospital after the accident, but he succumbed to the injuries two hours later.

Hook said: “Yesterday’s incident was witnessed by the victim’s wife.

“Right after the incident happened, the victim’s wife immediately sought help from family members and neighbours to send him to the hospital for medical attention and treatment.

“However, he died after two hours of receiving medical aid and treatment.”

The police chief revealed that medics who treated the 66-year-old man at the hospital discovered no other wounds. They claimed he sustained internal head injuries as a result of the blow.
