Heartbreaking footage from India shows a dog lying next to its owner’s slippers who left them behind after she threw herself off a bridge.
In the video, the unnamed dog can be seen waiting for its 22-year-old owner, identified as Mandangi Kanchana, to come back after she jumped into the Godavari River, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The incident reportedly happened at the GMC Balayogi Bridge in the Konaseema district, between the areas of Yanam and Yedurlanka on Sunday, 16th July.
The distressed animal can be seen moving restlessly along the bridge and looking down at the river before it comes back and sits next to Mandangi’s slippers.
Media revealed that the dog spent the night next to Mandangi’s footwear before her mum – reportedly a hotel owner – picked it up and brought it home the following day.
Reports claimed the young woman was reportedly walking her dog on the bridge, when she suddenly jumped into the river in front of a crowd of people at the bridge.
After witnessing the suicidal act, a passerby alerted local fishermen to save her, but she was washed away in the strong current before their boats could reach her.
Police in Yanam said they are investigating the reason for the suicide.
The devastating video shocked netizens after it emerged on social media platforms.
