This is the flight club moment when a plane passenger is battered unconscious after trying to open an emergency door in mid-air.
The 41-year-old flyer, named as Biswajit Debnath, had attempted to unlock the door aboard a domestic flight in India on 21st September.
But terrified passengers on the IndiGo flight 6E-457 to Agartala leapt out of their seats to stop him.
Phone video footage of Debnath’s detention shows him with a torn T-shirt and so badly beaten he can not even stand up.
Even as he is being dragged away in handcuffs by crew members, some passengers try to get in a few more punches to his head.
Tripura police spokesman Jyotisman Das Chowdhury said: “The co-passengers alleged that Debnath was under the influence of drugs.”
Debnath was arrested by police after the plane landed at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala.
Further investigation is underway.
