Gutted Kong ChanEng, from Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh, paid the driver through a payment app.

But instead of sending him KHR 4,000 (GBP 0.80) in local currency, he sent him USD 4,000 (GBP 3,270).

Kong said on Facebook: “Everyone help and share to find this brother, I mistakenly sent him USD 4,000 while riding his tuk-tuk for two or three days, just know, actually, I have to give him only KHR 4,000…

“Hope he sees it and sends it back to me, now I’m looking for it and can’t find his contact… If you know or see him please inform him or contact me.”

His post, which also features images of his driver in a bid to identify him, has since gone viral and has been picked up by local media.

Kong apparently failed to notice what currency he was transferring, leading to the mistake.

The tuk-tuk driver has apparently made no attempt to return the cash.

It is currently unclear if Kong has contacted police for help.
