This is the bizarre moment an old man in swimming trunks casts a fishing net into the sea, then enters the water and begins playing the violin while lying on his back.
Witness Mr Liu filmed the strange OAP by the seashore at Qingdao, in eastern China’s Shandong Province.
In the video, shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, the old man with grey hair and blue swimming shorts is seen standing on the port and casting a fishing net into the sea.
Then, the video cuts to a completely unexpected scene showing him with a violin in his hands and entering the water.
Stranger still, the footage cuts yet again to this time show him playing the instrument while lying on his back and floating around in the sea.
It is unclear if the old man decided to play the violin as a way to pass the time or as part of some unusual method to attract more fish.
Mr Liu said he came across the old man while visiting the city’s popular Zhanqiao Pier with his girlfriend.
He added he had never witnessed such a unique sight and was thoroughly impressed.
Hundreds of netizens also commented on how extraordinary this was, stating that it was quite a spectacle in the realms of fishing, swimming, and violin playing.
One user titled ‘Happy Xiao Wu’ commented: “Will fish that grow up listening to music taste better?”
Another user titled ‘Zhu is thin’ wrote: ” It would be great if I could be as cool as the grandpa when I grow old.”
And user ‘Hammer the earth’ said: “Hahaha, retirement life is beautiful.”
