This is the bizarre moment customers of a store celebrating its 11th birthday ‘pack’ up a 30-ft-long birthday cake in just two minutes by stuffing thick slices into plastic bags.

Phone footage shows excited men and women queueing up behind a red strip for the giant dessert in front of the store in Linyi, in China’s eastern Shandong Province.

Several staff members began cutting up the cake with knives decorated with red bows as pink confetti flew all over in celebration of the store’s anniversary.

Eager to grab a slice, customers moved past the queue strip before staff could finish cutting the cake and stuffed large pieces into plastic bags, each taking as much as they could carry.

Many were not afraid to dig their hands into the white icing before others beat them to it.

In less than two minutes, the entire 30-ft-long cake vanished from the table and all that was left was crumbs and some fruits used for decoration.

Store staff later said they organise similar celebrations each year and treat their customers to free cake.

And it seems that word had spread as this year, so many people had lined up for a piece that the scene turned into chaos.
