These images show the moment water pours down from overhead compartments onto passengers on a London flight while the crew try using cloths to stop the flow.

The incident took place on flight AI169 from London, in the United Kingdom, to Amritsar, in the state of Punjab, India, on 24th November.

The user ‘baldwhiner,’ who captioned the clip of the incident with “Air India. Fly with us, it’s not a trip. It’s an immersive experience,” shared the footage online.

The footage has gone viral, notching over 790,000 views since it was shared online on a platform on 29th November.

In one video, water can be seen dripping onto some seats in the aircraft while the passengers cover their bodies with blankets.

The flight captain can be heard saying: “Ladies and gentlemen, your flight captain is addressing you. I have been made aware by the cabin crew that there is a water leakage from the ceiling…”

In another piece of footage, flight attendants can be seen using cloth on the aircraft ceiling to stop the water from pouring out onto the passengers.

The affected aircraft passengers were reportedly relocated from their seats to other seats in the aircraft.

In a statement, Air India said: “Flight AI169 operating from Gatwick to Amritsar on 24th November 2023 experienced a rare occurrence of condensation adjustment inside the cabin.

“Some of our guests seated in the affected rows were promptly relocated to other vacant seats, and given the circumstances, the cabin crew made every effort to make the guests comfortable.

“Air India is committed to the safety and comfort of guests on board, and we regret this unexpected incident.”

Netizen ‘Chinmaya Choudhury’ said: “This is a technical glitch. Can happen with any airline.

“Looks like the passengers are more comfortable than guys who propagate the video to defame the airline.”

Another user, ‘Satyana Dev Aarya,’ said: “Sick of Indian defensiveness and cheap standard of service.

“Instead of accepting and reflecting. Even for heinous crimes like rape, they have the same attitude ‘This happens in all countries.’ No wonder we never change.”

Then ‘Srinivasan’ said: “Will you accept this after paying heavily for a flight ticket?”

‘Bhaumik Bakhschi’ added: “Water can cause a short circuit in electronic circuits of the aircraft and may cause IMPLOSIONs and thus EXPLOSIONS. It’s very risky.

“Technical staff, especially GROUND ENGINEER who certified the flight’s take-off, is to be made responsible, as he provides the fitness certificate of the flight.”
