This is the moment hundreds of drones lighting up the sky during a night show experience a sudden glitch and drop to the ground.

The drone show reportedly took place at a zoo in the town of Liaobu, in south-eastern China’s Guangdong Province on the evening of 11th August.

During the performance, the drones suddenly crashed in unison, prompting gasps from onlookers.

In one piece of footage, the colourful drones are seen forming patterns in the sky.

But, within seconds, almost all of the drones suddenly plummet from the sky simultaneously, prompting cries of astonishment from the crowd.

Another clip shows the drones flickering from a nearby tree where they fell before their lights shut off for good.

A zoo staff member later told local media that there were approximately a hundred drones at the performance.

They said: “No one was injured on-site, and only some machines were damaged.”

The collective crash occurred due to staff receiving last-minute aerial control notifications to shut down the show, though it is unclear why.

The staff member added that about a month ago, they introduced the drone performance show and had previously received similar warnings from aerial control.

However, the notification on the evening of 11th August came quite suddenly. In the future, they plan to communicate well in advance.

The Liaobu Town government has not yet commented on the matter.
