Cops have opened an investigation into five men for reckless driving after they were caught driving their luxury Lamborghinis over the speed limit.

Police in the city of Johor Bahru, Johor State, Malaysia, said they confiscated the five high-powered supercars and charged the men – aged 44 to 64 – with various traffic offences.

The measures reportedly followed after cops received a report saying that the vehicles were overtaking traffic dangerously at around 10am on the Senai-Desaru Expressway on Saturday, 29th July.

A one-minute video clip shows the moment the supercars – reportedly heading towards the town of Bandar Penawar from the town of Senai – speed past a fleet of cars in a single-track road.

The footage – taken by a driver who found himself in the jam – was viewed more than 361,000 times after it was posted on the same day.

Johor Police Chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat revealed that the suspects were questioned the same day and later released on bail, after which detectives launched an investigation into the case on Monday, 31st July.

Mamat said: “Apart from that, we also seized the five supercars as the vehicles were found to be in violation of the law.

“We will complete the investigations as soon as possible for the necessary action to be taken.”

Mamat revealed that the all drivers were Malaysian nationals, and said: “We welcome those who want to visit Johor but they should be disciplined and follow the law while they are here.

“As road users, safety must be the priority and do bear in mind that there are always people watching and ready to record any wrongdoings, which will then be shared on social media.”
