This is a stomach-churning extra a family discovered in their favourite curry takeaway from an Indian restaurant.

Sickened Vishwa Aditya, from the state of Telangana, India, had ordered chicken biriyani from the restaurant in Hyderabad.

But when the family served up the dish they found a cooked four-inch lizard in the spiced rice.

Dad Vishwa took to social media to post video footage of the revolting dish delivered through online food app Zomato.

In one, his grim-faced daughter is holding her plate up to the camera, while in another clip, the cooked lizard can be seen with what appears to be batter around its body.

The footage also shows takeaway bags from a branch of Bawarchi Biryani restaurants, one of the world’s most popular Indian restaurant chains.

Local media reports that the videos have notched up more than 200,000 views on one platform alone after being shared online on 2nd December.

Although the restaurant ignored the family’s grievances when they went to the restaurant to complain, according to local media, delivery firm Zomato said: “We have identified the issue and spoken to the customer.

“We take this very seriously and are working on appropriate next steps.”

This is reportedly not the first time insects or reptiles have been found in food ordered from the restaurant.

One social media user going by ‘Sai Koushik’ said: “Already a few times this hotel [the restaurant] has been seized by the food inspectors, but again they have always been released.

“A fine amount is not enough for such blunders all the time. Playing games with customers’ lives and sheer negligence by management.” (sic)

And ‘Kiran Kumar’ added: “Stop eating outside to save your lives. It is just business for these restaurants. They don’t care about hygiene.”

While ‘A R REDDY’ said: “The wish of eating Hyderabad biriyani ends here.”
