This is the acrobatic moment a dad on crutches manages to use them to catch a 10-month-old baby in a stroller who plunged headfirst down a set of concrete steps.

The incident was captured on CCTV camera in the courtyard of the home in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, in China’s south-western province of Yunnan, earlier this month (May).

The ten-month-old baby had apparently realised dad was coming and rushed outside in the stroller oblivious to the fact that the device was unlikely to go down the stairs.

Seeing the youngster running towards him in the stroller the dad who was on crutches manages to hobble over and poke one of the sticks out just as the boy tips over headfirst.

The youngster ends up being caught by the crutches, avoiding serious injury and is then seen being cuddled by the relieved father.

The baby’s mother said that at that time, the grandparents were working in the fields with her.

Originally, the father just planned to close the door, but the baby rushed out and he had to act quickly.
