This is the dramatic moment an airline worker falls out of a plane and onto the runway as he tries to exit unaware that the stepladder was moved away.

The TransNusa Airlines employee suffered the painful slip while saluting the flight crew before the aircraft took off from Indonesia’s Jakarta airport.

Phone footage shows the unnamed male ground staff member apparently talking to someone inside the Airbus A320 plane.

Then, as he was still distracted by the conversation, he began stepping outside.

But he had failed to notice other workers already moving the stepladder away from the boarded aircraft and lost his footing, plummeting dozens of feet onto the runway.

He landed on his back against the harsh tarmac, dropping several sheets of paper and accompanied by the sound of a woman shouting.

Thanks to the staff’s poor coordination the man reportedly suffered several injuries, but luckily none life-threatening.

According to reports, the incident was in violation of aviation rules that dictate the mobile ladder should not be removed until the aircraft’s doors are closed.

Jakarta airport authorities said they are investigating the accident. They assured preventative measures would be taken to avoid similar cases in the future.
