This is the distressing moment a hit-and-run driver hits an 8-year-old girl and two others during a night-time celebration.

The incident took place outside Eldeco Amantran Housing Society in Sector-119, Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, during the Indian Diwali celebration on Sunday night, 12th November.

The footage shows a red car with a white roof racing through fireworks and smoke on a street before hitting and running over a man, who is left lying lifeless in the street as horrified onlookers rush over.

Another body can be seen elsewhere on the road as onlookers run over to the lifeless bodies as the motorist continues without stopping down the street.

It was later reported that three people were hit in the incident.

The victims include an unnamed eight-year-old girl, Vijay Kumar, 72, and Vijay’s son-in-law Saurabh Singh, 40.

Vijay was critically injured and taken to Kailash Hospital in Noida.

One of his family members, identified only as Deepak, reportedly said the doctor told him it was difficult to save him.

The other two victims were admitted to the same hospital and, though severely injured, are said to be out of danger, according to local media reports.

However, Rekha Modi, an animal activist, said on X, formerly Twitter: “Not true; all three are in ICU in very serious condition, and the senior citizen who got dragged on the car bonnet is undergoing head injury operation and has multiple fractures all over the body which will take a lot of time.”

According to Saurabh Srivastava of the Sector-113 police station, covering the area of the incident, and whose team reportedly went to the scene, the police are currently investigating the case.

He said that they are trying to determine the car’s licence plate number using CCTV footage in the neighbourhood.
