A woman told how her house nearly got burned down after she forgot to unplug her electric blanket in the morning and it burned a giant hole in her mattress.

Phone footage captured by the woman, surnamed Shi, shows the left side of her bed letting out smoke at her home in Wuhan, in China’s northern Hebei Province.

A huge chunk of her mattress is seen charred and crumbled to the floor after the electric blanket burned a hole right through her bed.

Shi said she slept the previous night with the blanket on to keep herself warm, and forgot to unplug it in the morning.

Upon re-entering her bedroom, she was shocked to find her bed on fire and quickly put it out before it spread.

Shi added that she suspects the blanket must have short-circuited. Afterwards, she tossed it out and said she will not be getting another for fear of safety.

She also shared the footage on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, as a warning to all other users.

In another clip, Shi is seen placing what appears to be a Chinese yellow talisman for good luck and protection over the burned hole in her bed.
