This is the heartwarming moment a tiny swallow shows it’s no bird brain as it nestles inside a woman’s hair to take shelter from a thunderstorm.
The frightened bird took cover under her ponytail as she was walking into a shopping centre in Beijing – the Chinese capital – and stayed for two hours.
Charming video footage – shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok – shows the bird snuggling under her locks while she stops at a snack bar for a drink.
The swallow does not even budge when the girl’s friend strokes it gently with her finger.
Their surprise encounter reportedly lasted for over two hours, leaving a lasting impression on both the woman and shoppers who saw the extraordinary bond.
It was only when the storm had stopped that the girl took the bird gently in her hands and released it outside.
A second clip shows the swallow sitting peacefully as she carries it in an elevator before leaving the mall.
Many social media users were touched by the incredible friendship, while others jokingly noted that the bird could have carried lice or other bugs under its feathers.
One Douyin user titled ‘Convergence of Wisdom’ left a comment saying: “Swallows represent peace. If there are swallows in the family, it is considered safe and auspicious!”
Another user titled ‘Ti Amo.’ said: “This swallow is so friendly.”
