This is the moment a thrifty Apple fan unleashed the coins he’d been saving for seven years so he could finally buy a new iPhone.

Muhammad Hafiz Abdul Hamid from Penang, Malaysia, had been stashing every 50 Sen coin he got his hands on, each worth about GBP eight-and-a-half pence.

And when he finally thought he’d saved enough, he took to TikTok to share the count up with other social media users.

Hafiz, 30, known as @bifoty_camper online, is seen trying to lift a 19-litre water bottle full of coins to empty it out.

But the bottle is so heavy and the coins so log-jammed that almost nothing comes out.

So his brother grabs a hacksaw and cuts around the middle of the bottle allowing the coins to cascade all over the floor.

Coins from other containers like plastic bags and sweet jars are ten added to the pile.

Hafiz explained the reason for the multiple containers, saying: “It’s not just bottle, bro.

|”It was originally stored in a mug, and it ended up full. We change it to a chocolate bottle, and it’s full, just upgrade again.”

It later took four people three hours to count up the coins, which came to RM 5,360 (EURO 1,080).

And it took six trips to different banks to change the coins into banknotes, said Hafiz.

He later rewarded his patience with a brand new iPhone 14, although when he started saving in 2016 the iPhone 6 was still fresh to the market.

While some social media users questioned his decision to spend seven years of savings in a single day, others praised his patience and commitment.

One TikTok user, @mrriver3, commented, “That’s the best… SB has a lot of patience.”

While @temiramadani361 jokingly remarked, “No wonder that cheap money is a bit scarce now; apparently, it’s all in this family’s house.”
