Shoppers in China have been astonished after stocks of massive sausages appeared on the shelves of several local supermarkets.

The sight stunned customers in the city of Jinzhou, in China’s central-west Liaoning Province, after they saw the super-sized sausages on Wednesday, 6th December.

Called ‘Sausage Plus’, the meat products were reportedly sold at the price of CNY 19.80 (GBP 2.22) per kilogramme (2.2 lbs) as reported by local media.

Video footage from one of the stores shows people checking out the sausages, which lay piled up on a shelf like cordwood.

In a second clip filmed at a different location, a store employee can be seen coin-slicing one of the sausages with a cleaver before she hands it over to the person buying it.

The footage, shared on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, prompted many reactions from social media users, who could not hold back from sharing their thoughts in the comments.

Douyin user ‘Chestnut’ said: “Is this CNY 9.9 per half a kilo? I’m curious to know what’s in the ingredient list.”

User ‘What?’ commented: “Nobody is as tall as a Northeast sausage.”

And ‘Binbin good stuff’ added: “After 50 years of living, this is the first time I have seen such a big sausage.”
