This is the shocking aftermath when a GBP 240,000 Ferrari caught fire when the owner took it out to get a takeaway.

The high-performance supercar – which can reach 60mph from a standstill in 2.9 seconds – burst into flames in Hangzhou, China, on 10th June.

The driver told police he had to flee the mid-engined Ferrari 458 when flames shot through the passenger compartment.

He’d taken the car out to buy a snack, reports local media, but jumped out at a set of traffic lights when he smelled something burning.

Video footage of the car after the blaze shows a burned out engine bay and a huge melted hole in the panel closing off the passenger cabin.

Police put out the fire with a patrol car extinguisher.

Chai Haohao – commander of the Puyan Fire and Rescue Station – said: After we arrived, although the fire had been extinguished, the temperature of the car’s body was still very high.”

A thermal imaging camera showed that the temperature of the hottest part of the vehicle was still above 200 degrees Celsius.
