The video shows the moment people search for diamonds worth millions after an unknown person allegedly dropped a whole package of them in the middle of a road in India.

The footage even shows a person cleaning the street with a broom, hoping to find a one of the lost gemstones in the collected dust.

Media revealed that people gathered on the streets in the Surat district, Gujarat State, India, in an attempt to find the jewels after rumours spread that they had been dropped on the ground on Sunday, 24th September.

The incident reportedly followed after speculations that an unknown person accidentally dropped a whole package of them earlier that day.

Reports claimed that some individuals had reportedly even collected dust from the area after they heard that some managed to find a few pieces.

However, these turned out to be American diamonds, media claimed, which are man-made and lab-created gemstones known as cubic zirconia that only resemble real gems.

One of the men searching the streets named Arvind Panseria said: “It seems somebody played a prank that caught the fancy of people.”

The Varaccha area, a mini bazaar for the sale and purchase of diamonds, where the incident occurred, is also a hub for the local diamond trade.
