A long, unknown object that suddenly appeared beneath the surface of a large river sparked online debates, with many users wondering if it was a live creature from the deep.
The mysterious sight was filmed by an unnamed woman while she rode in a cable car above the Wuxia Mouth River, located near the city of Enshi, in China’s central Hubei Province.
In the video, a long, dark object appears to be hovering just beneath the surface in the middle of the river.
As the photographer zooms in the camera, it appears to be slowly moving.
The clip went viral on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, gaining more than 105,000 likes and over 50,000 shares.
Many users were puzzled by what the peculiar object could be, while others suggested it might be a massive serpent-like creature.
One user titled ‘tower defense mini’ commented: “It is an anaconda, this is what I study.”
And user ‘Farmer Bandit’ wrote: “At this distance and height, the images taken are already significant. How large must the actual object be?”
While user ‘see you tomorrow’ said: “School of fish, this is what it would look like when you photographed it from afar if it were a big group.”
