This is the heart-stopping moment several men climb to a little girl’s rescue as she is helplessly hanging by her neck from the security bars of a fifth-floor window.
Phone footage captured the daring rescue at an apartment building in Chongqing, in south-central China on the morning of 25th August.
In the video, a little girl who looks to be about four or five years old and wearing a pink dress is seen dangerously hanging with her feet some 70 feet off the ground, clutching to the bars of a window edge.
A man from the apartment next-door is seen crawling from the window, attempting to reach her.
Another man is also seen climbing up to the second floor using a ladder, then climbing further up onto the anti-theft windows on each floor.
Despite the rain, the two men manage to get to the girl and carefully guide her back inside through the window.
Witness Ms Li said that at the time, many people were present, some helping with ladders, and others providing blankets to catch her.
In the end, the child was successfully rescued with barely any injuries.
The shop owner next door, Mr Chen, was one of the men who helped with the rescue.
He told local media that at the time, there were no adults in the young girl’s home, and the time from discovery to successful rescue lasted around ten minutes.
Chen said: “I wasn’t worried about myself. At that time, the young girl was hanging completely outside the window, and I just wanted to rescue her as quickly as possible.
“I didn’t think too much. People downstairs found a ladder, so I climbed up.”
According to Chen, the other person involved in the rescue was Mr Zhao, a neighbour from the young girl’s house.
Chen added: “At that time, she was very agitated, crying and shouting for her mother.
“We comforted her, and once she was calm, I climbed back into the neighbouring window and came down safely.”
Afterwards, Chen said he went back to work when he received a call from the child’s mother, who expressed her gratitude over the phone.
