A driver and his girlfriend got a pleasant surprise when a bus carrying Leo Messi and his Argentina teammates drove alongside them in Beijing.
Mr He later told local media that while they were driving down the road, his girlfriend remarked that it would be nice to see Messi.
Amazingly, the bus carrying the forward pulled alongside them moments later, and he asked his girlfriend to film him with the Argentina captain on her phone.
Mr He claimed to local media that when he rolled down the car window and called out to the 35-year-old, the former Barcelona and PSG man waved at him.
Mr He said he has been a fan of the 2022 World Cup winner for more than two decades.
Messi landed in the Chinese capital with his “bodyguard” and a number of friends, including Argentina teammate Angel Di Maria, on 10th June.
The reigning world champions will take on Australia in a friendly international at Beijing’s Workers’ Stadium on 15th June.
After the video was shared online, one social media user quipped: “If this wasn’t captured well, I would wake up in the middle of the night when I’m old, crying in pain.”
Another joked: “First of all, you need a car, and then you need an obedient wife. Additionally, you need to be in Beijing and on the same road. You also need to ensure that Mr Messi sits on the right side by the window, and make sure the curtains aren’t drawn. It’s all about the perfect timing, favourable conditions, and harmony of people.”
A third simply wrote: “Awesome! Ah, I’m so envious!”
Messi is reported to be joining Inter Miami now that his PSG contract has expired.
