A pet owner was touched by his dog’s saviour act when it barked to remind him his fish were going without water when he forgot to close the valve after cleaning out his fish tank.

The owner – surnamed Wang – told local media in Beijing, China’s capital, how he nearly lost all his prized pet fish over his simple mistake.

But – CCTV footage shows – his dog was thankfully there to save the day.

In the video, it appears the pup was passing by the mounted aquarium and it noticed the dozen colourful creatures had suddenly stopped moving and desperately clung to the bottom of their tank.

Almost immediately – Mr Wang said – the pooch began anxiously barking and alerted him something was wrong.

Mr Wang, who has stepped out to his bedroom to feed another tank of smaller fish, ran back to see what his dog was trying to tell him.
