A male pedestrian is fighting for his life after a giant icicle fell down seemingly out of nowhere and struck him on the head, causing him to pass out on the pavement.

CCTV footage captured the moment the man, who was not named, walked past a tall building in Qitaihe, in China’s northern Heilongjiang Province, on the afternoon of 14th November.

Seemingly distracted after a long day of work, he apparently did not notice the ice on the eaves had begun to melt and fall apart.

All of a sudden, a huge icicle became detached and flew down, hitting the unsuspecting pedestrian on the head as he was trying to move past three women.

He collapsed on the snowy pavement and fell unconscious. The three women who saw him fall and get injured immediately moved away and sought refuge beneath a nearby tree.

Another passerby also rushed aside to avoid the dangerous ice.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the man to hospital.
