This is the dramatic moment an unmanned high-speed boat collides with several yachts after going out of control in the middle of the sea.
Phone footage shows the blue Ferrari-shaped vessel speeding towards several yachts off the coast of Sanya, in southern China’s Hainan Province.
In the video, is it seen going straight towards the large, white vessels and crashing into them as they are unable to dodge it.
Panicked crew members can be heard screaming in shock as they try to avoid getting directly getting hit by the out-of-control boat that wreaked havoc.
The boat struck at least three yachts before it suddenly changed direction from the strong impact and apparently headed towards the shore.
According to eyewitnesses, there was nobody onboard piloting the high-speed boat.
It is unclear how many of the hit yachts were damaged.
Many Douyin users were seemingly baffled by the incident, with some jokingly branding it a ‘hit-and-run’.
One user titled ‘nullnull’ said in a comment: “This is why ‘sports cars’ shouldn’t be allowed on the sea.”
Another user titled ‘The light chaser is a peach’ said: “It’s a boat, for I second I thought it was a bumper car.”
And user ‘Shangrao Yacht Club’ wrote: “It is possible that the driver accidentally fell into the water beforehand!”
Local maritime authorities have launched an investigation and are looking into the potential causes of the loss of control, including technical malfunctions.
