These images show noodles being made at a street factory in Kolkata and unhygienically dumped on the floor to cool before being packaged to distribute to clients.

The viral footage, with over 3.3 million views on one platform alone, showcases the noodle-making process at a Kolkata-based company in West Bengal, India and was shared online by Nikhhiil Chawla, a digital food influencer, on 10th October.

The video illustrates the entire noodle production process, from mixing the dough to cutting and steaming the noodles before packaging.

However, it also reveals a lack of hygiene measures, with the noodles being placed on the bare floor, employees not wearing gloves or clean uniforms, and unclean machinery.

This footage has prompted widespread concerns about the hygiene and food safety of the noodles and has raised questions about the legality of the factory itself.

While some netizens defended the company’s simple production methods, saying it is the only way the noodles can be affordable to the average person, others argue that it does not justify producing them in an unhygienic environment.

They suggest that basic hygiene measures like gloves, hair caps, and sanitation of the cooking area should be enforced.

At the time of writing, there was no information about any actions or sanctions taken by food processing authorities in West Bengal.
