This video shows an eight-and-a-half-month pregnant woman who is practising Thai boxing for an hour every day.
The woman – identified only as Mrs. Wu by local media in Linyi, Shandong province – has sparked widespread attention and discussion by continuing her boxing training even now when the baby is due very shortly.
As a Thai boxing coach, Wu has been sharing her journey of staying physically active throughout her pregnancy and how it has positively impacted her and her baby’s well-being.
With over three years of experience as a Thai boxing coach, Wu’s love for the sport runs deep.
Her partner is also a boxer, making the sport an integral part of their lives. Even before becoming pregnant, Wu maintained a rigorous training routine, and she was determined to continue her passion throughout her journey while pregnant.
Throughout the past eight months, Wu has consistently trained and says both her body and baby have adapted to the physical exertion.
Despite many women suffering from common pregnancy discomforts like stretch marks, pelvic pain, and swelling of the hands and feet, Wu has not experienced any of these issues.
She said before she started, she was concerned about her planned fitness routine and sought medical advice from her doctor.
But they assured her that boxing training would have no adverse effects on her baby.
In fact, the doctor mentioned that such exercise during pregnancy could even assist in the labour process.
However, the doctor advised against high-intensity workouts for those who are not already engaged in regular fitness activities.
Wu’s commitment to fitness during pregnancy is empowering for women who value physical activity and want to continue pursuing their passions while expecting.
